Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tekero ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares
your personal data when you use the Tekero mobile application (the "App"). Tekero is
a social discovery and dating service operated from Spain. The data controller is the
operator of Tekero, reachable at
gleb@tekero.io. By creating an account you
confirm that you have read this Policy.
1. Data we collect
Data you provide
- Account data: email address and password (or your Google / Apple account
identifier when you sign in with those providers).
- Profile data: name, date of birth, photos, bio, height, weight, body type,
languages, and — at your own choice — your gender identity, gender expression and
sexual orientation. This information is the core of the service: without it we
cannot show you to other users or show other users to you.
- Content: advertisements ("ads") you publish, messages you send in chats,
voice messages, photos and videos you share.
- Music library data (optional): if you link Apple Music, we read the artist
names and song genres of your library with your permission via Apple's MusicKit and
store a summary (artist list and genre statistics) to show music-taste compatibility
with other users. We never receive your Apple ID or playback history. Unlinking your
library in your profile deletes this data; it is also removed when you delete your
account.
- Reports and support requests you submit about other users or content.
Data collected automatically
- Location: with your permission, your device location is used to show you
people nearby and to position your ads. Location is refreshed periodically while
you use the App. We store coordinates, not movement history.
- Usage data: in-app events such as screens viewed, likes sent, matches and
feature usage (see "Analytics" below), app version, device platform and language.
- Push token: a device token used to deliver push notifications, if you
allow notifications.
2. Sensitive data
Information about your sexual orientation and gender identity is special-category
data under the GDPR. You provide it voluntarily during onboarding, and we process it
solely with your explicit consent to operate the matching service — it is shown to
other users as part of your profile and used by the matching filters you and other
users configure. We do not use this data for advertising and do not share it with
analytics providers. You may delete your account at any time to withdraw consent.
3. How we use your data
- To create and operate your account, profile and ads (performance of contract).
- To match you with other users based on location, age, preferences and filters
(performance of contract).
- To deliver chats, likes, matches and notifications (performance of contract).
- To keep the service safe: moderation, handling reports, blocking and restricting
accounts that violate our Terms (legitimate interest).
- To maintain an internal trust score for safety and abuse prevention (legitimate
interest): we automatically process activity signals — profile completeness,
message metadata from our chat provider (timestamps, delivery and read status,
message counts and lengths, calls that took place), likes, matches and
friendships, reports and blocks sent and received, private-photo access grants,
screenshot-detection events and subscription status. We do not analyse the
content of your messages for scoring. Every trust-score change is logged together
with its reason, and decisions that significantly affect your account (such as
restrictions) involve human review by our moderation team. You can object to this
processing at gleb@tekero.io.
- To automatically screen uploaded photos for explicit content using an automated
image-recognition service (Amazon Rekognition). Photos detected as explicit are
marked and shown only to users who opted in to see explicit content. The analysis
is fully automated, happens once at upload, and the photo is not retained by the
analysis service (legitimate interest).
- To understand how the App is used and improve it (legitimate interest, using
aggregated and pseudonymised analytics).
- To notify you about important app updates (legitimate interest).
4. What other users see
Your profile (name, age, photos, bio and the identity attributes you filled in) and
your published ads are visible to other users of the App according to their filters and
your settings. Photos you mark as private are visible only to users you explicitly
grant access to. Messages are visible only to participants of the chat.
5. Service providers (data processors)
We do not sell your data. We rely on a small set of infrastructure providers who
process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, databases, photo and media storage,
authentication (AWS Cognito), automated photo screening for explicit content
(Amazon Rekognition) and transactional email (AWS SES). Our infrastructure
is located in the EU (Frankfurt, eu-central-1).
AWS Privacy Notice.
- CometChat — real-time chat infrastructure. Your messages (text, photos,
voice) are delivered and stored by CometChat (EU region) to power in-app chats.
CometChat Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — product analytics, hosted in the EU. We send pseudonymised
usage events (e.g. "ad liked", "message sent") linked to a random user identifier.
We do not send message contents, names, emails, orientation or precise location to
PostHog. PostHog Privacy Policy.
- Expo — push notification delivery to Apple and Google push services.
Expo Privacy Policy.
- Google / Apple — if you sign in with Google or Apple, those providers
process your sign-in under their own terms
(Google,
Apple).
- Asana — internal ticketing for user reports and support. Report details
(reporter, reported content, reason) are processed there so our moderation team can
act on them. Asana Privacy Statement.
Where these providers offer their own privacy commitments for chat delivery and
analytics, those commitments apply to the respective processing in addition to this
Policy.
5a. International transfers
Our core infrastructure (databases, media storage, authentication, chats,
analytics) is hosted in the European Economic Area. Some providers — Expo, Google,
Apple and Asana — may process limited data (such as push tokens, sign-in identifiers
or report details) in the United States. Such transfers rely on the EU–U.S. Data
Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as
set out in each provider's privacy documentation linked above.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the App
(Profile → Settings → Delete profile). Deletion removes your profile, photos, ads,
likes, partner links, push tokens, notifications and messages, and deletes your
authentication identity (including the AWS Cognito record). Reports about your account
and moderation records may be retained after deletion where necessary for safety and
legal purposes. Backups are rotated on a regular schedule.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Spanish data protection law (LOPDGDD, Organic Law 3/2018)
you have the right to access, rectify, export and erase your data, to restrict or
object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Most of this is available
directly in the App (editing your profile, deleting photos, deleting the account).
For anything else, contact us at
gleb@tekero.io. You also have the right to
lodge a complaint with the Spanish supervisory authority — Agencia Española de
Protección de Datos (aepd.es) —
or with the data protection authority of your country of residence.
8. Age
Tekero is strictly for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly process data of
minors; such accounts are deleted when discovered.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy as the App evolves. Significant changes will be announced
in the App. The date above reflects the latest revision.
